What we can help with
We're happy to hear about factual corrections, questions about the content on this site, or general feedback on how we can make the guides more useful.
We cannot provide personalized debt advice, case-specific counseling, or legal guidance by email. For those needs:
- Nonprofit credit counseling: NFCC-member agencies offer free or low-cost consultations — search the NFCC directory for a certified counselor near you.
- Legal advice: The LawHelp.org directory connects low-income consumers with free legal aid services.
- Tax guidance on settled debt: A CPA or enrolled agent familiar with IRS Form 982 (insolvency exclusion) is worth consulting before you file.
We typically respond to emails within two to three business days. We may not be able to reply to every message, but we read them all.
General questions, content feedback, and factual corrections welcome. We do not provide individual debt counseling or case-specific advice by email.
